BONAWATT Triton Receives The Ear's Editor's Choice Award

BONAWATT Triton received an Editor's Choice award from British magazine The Ear following an in-depth review by Jason Kennedy. What matters particularly to us is that the reviewer recognised the principle behind Triton from the outset: combining the character of a tube preamplifier stage with the speed, control and substantial power reserves of a modern, high-current Class D output stage.

During listening, Triton was praised for its energy and natural presentation, deep and well-controlled bass, excellent dynamics, and ability to retain both weight and clarity. Kennedy also noted that it avoided the characteristics often attributed to Class D amplifiers while retaining their speed and control.

We are especially pleased with the assessment of the hybrid concept itself. The reviewer found that combining two very different technologies offered the best of both worlds: the musicality and vitality associated with tubes, alongside control and dynamics that are difficult to achieve with conventional tube designs.

Our BAX MBD-1S module, installed in one of Triton's expansion slots, also received particular praise.

Jason Kennedy highlighted both its configuration options and sound quality, judging its performance comparable to that of considerably more expensive standalone digital-to-analogue converters.

The Ear's Editor's Choice award therefore recognises not only Triton's sound, but also the complete design concept on which this BONAWATT amplifier is built.
